The tradition of releasing sky lanterns can be traced back nearly two thousand years to China. At first sky lanterns were used as a signalling tool by the military as the glow from the lanterns could be seen for miles.  Now, however, the practice of releasing sky lanterns has become a way of celebrating special events in the Far East.

Light a Lantern (SA) now enables you to add a distinctive, romantic touch to your wedding.  Sky lanterns are unique, longer lasting and safer than fireworks.  They rise to heights of over 300 meters and travel for kilometres. The result is a truly magical and romantic sight! 

Light a Lantern offers decorative lanterns that are not only distinctive but environmentally and budget friendly as well. We have several lantern options to fit the unique look and feel of your special day.  For a small additional charge we can personalise your sky lanterns by printing a special message of your choice to the side of each sky lantern (must be pre-ordered at least 12 weeks in advance).

Sky lanterns are availabe in white, mixed multi-coloured and red heart shaped sky lanterns.  Our sky lanterns are made of non-flammable bio-degradable paper, stand over 90cm tall and take approximately 30 seconds to fill with hot air before they ready to be released into the sky, creating an impressive eye catching visual effect.
